Client Brief
Te Kinakina Wetlands is a whānau-led restoration project in Te Kaha. The Trust needed a calm, credible home online: somewhere to share the story of the whenua with the wider community, and a clear reference point to accompany funding and grant applications.
The site presents the mahi plainly: the three strategic goals, the impact so far, and the people behind the project.
Inspiration from a drawing
The landowner had drawn a map of the wetlands in watercolour pencil: soft washes of green, blue waterways and layered native bush. That drawing set the direction for the website. We carried its palette, its gentle edges and its hand-drawn feel into the design, so the site feels like an extension of the landowners vision, rather than a template.
Photography fades into soft washes, headings pair a classic serif with a handwritten script, and small botanical illustrations sit quietly in the margins.

The Result
The Trust now has a single place to point people to when sharing the project or applying for support. The impact figures sit at the top of the homepage and Te reo Māori sits alongside English throughout, from the headings to the greetings.
