The Epic Night Of
Before Marshmello became one of the biggest names in EDM, AUSA took a chance and booked him for “Party in the Park” – and it turned into the most memorable edition of the event the campus has ever seen. Thousands of students packed Albert Park for a sold-out show, with the Marshmello’s performance backed by local acts Kings and Sachi. It’s the kind of night that’s still talked about years later, and it’s exactly the kind of moment we love being trusted to capture.
Our Approach
As professional videographers, we bring more than just a camera to events like this. Our experience working across the University of Auckland‘s biggest campus moments – O-Week concerts, conferences, and large-scale student events — means we know how to read a crowd, anticipate the best angles, and capture atmosphere as it happens, not just performances after the fact. We work fast and unobtrusively, so the footage feels authentic to the night rather than staged for it.
The Challenge
Marshmello and his team had stipulations and creative control clauses that needed to be met by our videographer – they weren’t allowed on the stage or right in front of him, both valid and reasonable for a live event. So the fact that our videographer managed to capture the epic shots he got, is why we’re chosen for jobs like this.
Working With Student Events
That experience also means we understand the sensitivities that come with filming student events – knowing what to capture and what to leave out, while still delivering a video that’s high-energy, polished, and ready to share within days of the event ending. It’s that combination of speed, judgement, and an eye for the moment that turns a great night into a video people want to watch again and again.
