Client Brief

The Brief:  Growing Up in NZ at Eden Park Videography & Photography

We cover all sorts of events for the event team at The University of Auckland.  Recently, we were asked to capture the first get-together event for the now 16-17 year old cohort of Growing Up In New Zealand study, which is New Zealand’s largest contemporary longitudinal research, tracking over 6,000 children from before birth through young adulthood (21+ years) to examine developmental, health, and wellbeing trends.

GUiNZ and the event organisers wanted to create an atmosphere to celebrate the participants and their families.  It was important that the film & photo team were friendly and approachable as it would be a family event with young children as well as teens and adults.  Being a family business and parents ourselves, as well as just lovely people :D, we were able to bring the appropriate energy and connection to our role as documenters of the evening.

The main focus of our brief was to capture a “group photo” of the participants and their families, which was no small feat.  They were expecting approximately 700 guests, so it was fortunate that we were located at the epic Eden Park stadium and were given permission to take said photo on the grounds themselves, using a high resolution drone camera.  Crowd control by the GUiNZ team and Eden Park staff made the seemingly big job quick and easy!
