The Brief: Gala Dinner Video
Adecco New Zealand and Paralympics New Zealand (PNZ) have run an annual gala for over a decade, evolving from the Adecco New Zealand Prime Minister’s Dinner into today’s Adecco Group Gala Dinner video. We had the privilege of capturing a few of these evenings.
2019 – The Prime Minister’s Dinner
Held to mark the “one year to go” milestone before the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, this edition centred on Spirit of Gold® – the term PNZ uses to capture both its gold medal-winning performance and its role supporting and inspiring the disability community. The evening featured remarks from the Rt Hon Jacinda Ardern and branding and room styling reflecting the Spirit of Gold® theme throughout.
2021 – One Team, One Spirit
Postponed a year by COVID, the 2021 dinner landed just 67 days out from the Tokyo Paralympic Games and 259 days from the Beijing Paralympic Winter Games – a rare moment to celebrate both the New Zealand summer and winter Paralympic teams together under “one team, one spirit.” The Hon Grant Robertson, then Deputy Prime Minister, joined 150 guests and 16 Paralympians and Para athletes for an evening that included a pōwhiri welcoming guests into the room and a live performance from Drax Project, performing in Te Reo Māori.
2022 – A Night of High Honour
The 2022 dinner, held at the Hilton Auckland, welcomed an especially distinguished guest list — Her Excellency the Rt Hon Dame Cindy Kiro, Governor-General of New Zealand, and His Excellency Dr Richard Davies, alongside the Hon Poto Williams and Adecco’s senior leadership team – joining Paralympians and Para athletes to celebrate the cause.
The Outcome
Across three editions, our coverage has captured the formality and heart of the evening each year – speeches, ceremony, athletes, and the room itself – giving Adecco and PNZ a polished, ongoing video legacy of an event that’s raised funds and visibility for New Zealand’s Paralympic community since 2012.
